Need to talk?
Sometimes it’s hard to find someone you can really talk to. In this busy world, no one seems to have the time to simply listen and really pay attention to you.
The people close to you may be just too close to the issues you want to talk about. They may be too involved, too worried about you, or eager to give out advice based on how they feel about it.
But the important thing is how you feel about it – isn’t it?
When a space is created in which you can really relax and express your innermost thoughts without fear of judgement or criticism – then you can really begin to make sense of what’s going on in your world.
Professional therapy
I am here to create that space for you. As a fully qualified and experienced therapist, I offer you an environment in which you can let go, and really ‘be yourself’. From this perspective you can begin to find solutions to the issues that are troubling you, from your own place of power and authority.
Fully qualified, insured, and registered with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), you can be assured of professional support.
I have a friendly informal style, and my aim is to help you feel comfortable and safe throughout the process. I adapt my approach to suit each individual’s needs, whether that’s simply a gentle listening ear, or a more practical CBT therapy style with guidance and strategies for resolving your issues.
Advantages of Private Counselling
1. Skip the long waiting lists
It seems that waiting lists for counselling are getting longer and longer lately. But once you decide to speak to somebody it can feel really urgent to get started right away. Private counselling can give you luxury of booking an appointment without having to wait for months.
2. Choose the counsellor that’s right for you
When you book counselling through a large organisation, you won’t get to decide which counsellor you see. You’ll simply be allocated to somebody, without having any idea who they are.
This seems pretty unfair to me – how are you meant to open up to a complete stranger, when you don’t even know anything about them, or their qualifications? And in fact some organisations use trainee, volunteer, or inexperienced counsellors.
When you choose private counselling, you can look for yourself and see who feels suitable for you. I believe that it’s important for you to feel as confident as possible before making your decision.
For this reason, I have lots of information about myself throughout my website, including videos and blogs, so you can get a good sense of who I am before booking an appointment. I’m very clear about my qualifications, experience, and training. You can visit my ABOUT page to find out more.
3. Feel confident about confidentiality
When you arrange counselling through an organisation you may have to go through a variety of people – receptionists, managers, assessors etc – before you actually get to see your counsellor.
As a private independent therapist, I can assure you that you will deal directly with me at all stages of the process. If confidentiality and privacy is important to you, then this can be a major consideration.
